Having ideas isn’t the problem... It’s choosing one and moving forward. If you’re stuck in idea overwhelm, this post is your permission to simplify and start.

If you’re a creative, you probably have no shortage of ideas.
One day, it’s a template. The next day, it’s a Notion kit. Then you think, “Maybe I should make a mini course instead?”
Sound familiar?
Having ideas isn’t the problem. It’s choosing one and moving forward.
If you’re stuck in idea overwhelm, this post is your permission to simplify and start.
The Real Reason You’re Not Launching
Most freelance designers don’t get stuck because they lack skills or creativity. They get stuck because they’re afraid of picking the “wrong” idea. Mind you, me too!
So they jump between products, wait for a sign, or start over again and again, and never actually launch.
The truth? You don’t need the perfect idea. You need a clear, useful one that you can finish and test.
Because action brings clarity. Not the other way around.
Three Filters to Help You Choose
Use these quick prompts to pick one idea and move forward with confidence:
1. Which idea is the easiest to finish in a week?
Skip the massive bundle or 5-module course. What can you finish in a few hours or over the weekend?
Examples:
A simple social media template
A downloadable checklist
A 1-page guide or resource
Smaller = faster = done.
2. Which idea solves a real problem someone is feeling right now?
The best ideas solve urgent, specific problems. Ask yourself:
What do people in your audience struggle with daily?
What shortcuts or tools do they keep asking you for?
What are you already doing for clients that others might want too?
When you solve a problem that’s already on someone’s mind, you don’t need to “convince” them; they’re ready.
3. Which idea are you actually excited to promote?
Be honest. Which one would you enjoy talking about in stories, sharing in your group, or posting about online?
If it feels heavy before you even start, it’ll be even harder to sell.
Start with the one you can’t stop thinking about the one that feels fun, not forced.
Still Stuck? Use This Shortcut
Here’s what I tell my clients and community:
“Your first product is not your last. It’s your launchpad.”
You’re not choosing the idea you’ll be known for forever. You’re choosing the one that gets you moving now.
You can build momentum, learn what your audience responds to, and improve with every step. But none of that can happen if you’re still sitting on a folder full of drafts.
Take the First Step
If you’re spinning in circles, take 10 minutes and complete the free 1-Page Product Planner. It will help you choose one idea, define who it’s for, and outline what problem it solves. All on one page! You don’t need 10 products. You don’t need to wait for the perfect one. You just need to launch your first.
Let’s keep it simple and make something real.
Love, Ivy 🖤
